An initial design vision for a holistic centre dedicated to healing, education and community building. The Taralena Center explores how Integral Theory and regenerative principles can be translated into architectural and landscape design.
How can a place emerge that facilitates both consciousness development and nature restoration, where people live together in harmony with their environment? From that question, we developed a visionary concept for a holistic educational centre in the Netherlands. We wanted to imagine a place that is more than a retreat centre: a place where personal transformation, connection to nature and collective healing come together.
Protopia Studio designed the Taralena Center as an integral learning and living environment, with consciousness development as a response to ecological and societal challenges. It is inspired by the Integral Theory of philosopher Ken Wilber and applies Sacred Geometry.
The Taralena Center shows what a future-proof regenerative centre could look like, connecting education, nature restoration and community life. The centre is designed around three pillars: education, an environment that facilitates spiritual awakening and personal development; nature restoration, through regenerative principles such as reforestation, circular construction and rewilding former agricultural land; and community, a group that learns, lives and cares together, with a food forest, ecological building and an inclusive social structure. Although the project is not aimed at immediate realisation, it offers a powerful future image and source of inspiration for initiatives seeking a new balance between people and nature.
