What keeps you awake at night? Seventy percent of Dutch people answer that question with long-term financial worries. At ABN AMRO, we developed an intuitive application that makes the complex, labour-intensive and expensive process of financial planning accessible to everyone. The result: happier customers and a positive business case.
Seven out of ten Dutch people name a long-term financial concern as their biggest problem. Yet professional financial planning remains out of reach for most people: the process is expensive, time-consuming and requires specialist guidance. ABN AMRO wanted to change this. The ambition was to democratise financial planning and make it available to every customer.
Bart led product strategy, application design and service design. We translated a complex, manual advisory process into an intuitive digital application that gives customers a clear picture of their financial future in a single conversation. We worked closely with the internal team on business development, work instructions and the setup and guidance of the pilot phase, including employee training and evaluation of customer conversations.
The first version of Financial Outlook is live and actively used by ABN AMRO customers. Responses have been very positive: customers say the conversation gives them peace of mind and, for the first time, a concrete picture of what is possible. The difference is that people actually start making financial choices for the future after using it, from retiring earlier to saving more consciously. Financial Outlook turns uncertainty into action. This creates more confidence for users and, through more active financial behaviour, a positive business case for ABN AMRO.
