ENT gives nature a voice at the design table in area development. As an AI-supported conversation partner, ENT brings ecological perspectives into the moments when design choices are made: early, concretely and specific to place.

Challenge

In area development, nature is often treated as an obligation, a risk or a cost. Nature-inclusive development is fortunately gaining ground, but thinking still often starts from business cases, with nature added later as something that also needs to be considered.

Our role

Protopia is the creator and developer of ENT (Engage Nature Tool). Key steps in the development process included validating the idea with relevant stakeholders, developing working prototypes, market positioning and business model research.

Result

Initial workshops and demos show that ENT can offer a new perspective to project developers, architects and ecologists, among others. Protopia Studio has decided to offer the general ENT tool for free and finance it through a foundation. The City of Amsterdam has joined as a partner.
