In a design sprint with the City of Amsterdam, Protopia Studio developed a prototype app: the Broad Prosperity Meter. Through a set of statements, the app helps civil servants reflect on their work and team in relation to broad prosperity, opening up a conversation about values beyond economic growth.
The City of Amsterdam wanted to make broad prosperity tangible and practical for civil servants and policymakers. Broad prosperity is not only about the economy, but also about wellbeing, nature, health, work and future resilience. The challenge: how do you introduce this broader perspective in an accessible way and make the conversation usable inside the organisation?
Protopia Studio facilitated a design sprint, managed the design process and guided co-creation with stakeholders. In a short period of time, a prototype was developed that helps employees use statements to understand how their work relates to broad prosperity.
The prototype made broad prosperity concrete and discussable within the organisation. It gave teams a practical way to reflect on the wider effects of their work and helped shift policy conversations beyond economic growth alone.
